To knit pieces that keep you warm and still look like you. Wool that softens instead of scratching. Shoulders that sit where shoulders actually sit. Cardigans you put on at seven in the morning and forget about until you take them off at night. Made for real winters, real bodies, and real days — not for a catalog.

Our Vision

A world where a woman opens her closet in November and finds something waiting there that she loves. Where the warmest thing you own is also the thing you feel best in. Where the cold months are something to settle into, not something to get through.

What We Stand For

Warmth first, always. Every style has to pass one test before anything else. Would we wear it through a Vermont February? If the answer is no, it never reaches the shop.

Made to be kept. Rose knits the first one of every style herself, wears it for a week, and takes it back apart if the shoulder doesn't sit right. Only then do we make another. Thirty-five years, and we have never once skipped that part.

Real women, real winters. We knit for women who dress for themselves. Women who want to look like themselves at sixty-five — not like someone else at forty.

Our Promise

When you shop with Rose & Mabel, you are not just buying a sweater. In 1996 we put a table at the back of the shop and opened it to anyone who wanted to sit and knit on a Thursday afternoon. It has been full every week since.
